Amador COVID-19 Update
Amador County Public Health confirms five new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since last Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 2 males and 3 females, 3 aged 18-49, 1 aged 50-64, 1 over 65 years of age, 2 residing in Ione, 2 living in Pioneer, and 1 in Plymouth.
This week Amador remains in the Red Tier on California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy tier structure. The tier classifications with sectors operations are posted on the state website: Blueprint Tier Chart. Guidance for each sector may be found on the state Industry Guidance to Reduce Risk website. If Amador continues to demonstrate COVID-19 stability the county will be allowed to advance to the less restrictive orange tier in one week, next Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
Practicing personal prevention measures are important and will contribute to Amador’s tier movement. Avoid mixing with others outside your household. Individuals can be contagious before symptoms of COVID-19 are present. Maintain 6-foot physical distance and wear a face covering. Persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. Avoid unnecessary travel. Stay home if you are sick even with mild symptoms.
Over the last few weeks, air quality concerns led to the intermittent closure of drive-through test site locations in Amador and surrounding counties. Indoor testing locations continue to be available both in Amador and within the neighboring counties of Calaveras, El Dorado, Sacramento, and San Joaquin. To view test site options, please visit the Where Can I Get Tested? webpage. Assistance scheduling an appointment is available. Call the Amador Testing Helpline: (209) 223-6676.
