Amador County's 6th Chief Probation Officer is Mark J. Bonini.

In 1995, Mark graduated from California State University, Fresno earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminology/Corrections. Upon graduation, Mark worked at a group home for juvenile sex offenders in Fresno County.

Mark began his career in Probation with the Amador County Probation Department on February 1, 1996 as a Deputy Probation Officer I and was assigned a juvenile caseload which consisted mostly of juveniles in placement (juveniles removed from their families). Mark worked his way through the ranks becoming a Deputy Probation Officer II, Deputy Probation Officer III, Unit Supervisor, Deputy Chief Probation Officer and was eventually appointed Chief Probation Officer in December 2007 by the Honorable Judge Susan C. Harlan, Ret.

Mark has served on the Executive Committee for the Chief Probation Officers of California (CPOC) since 2009. Mark was elected and served as President of CPOC in 2016. Mark was recognized by his peers and was awarded the 2016 Chief Probation Officer of The Year.  

Mark is a proud member of the Amador County Peace Officers' Association and is the currnet President. Mark served as President previously in years 2015 and 2016. 

Mark is a proud member and Past-President (2022/2023) of the Jackson Lions Club. 

Mark is happily married and father of two boys.
