MISSION STATEMENT
“The Amador County Environmental Health Department is a group of dedicated professionals working together with the community to ensure a more healthful environment by applying practical knowledge of science and public health, coupled with the judicious use of regulations.

"The Amador County Environmental Health Department promotes and protects the health of the public and the environment by ensuring compliance with state and county regulations through programs which monitor food facilities, waste disposal, water well construction, public pools and spas, and other public and environmental health concerns."

Much of the work that is done by the Amador County Environmental Health Department consists of investigations and inspections; conducting workshops and seminars; preparing and distributing information to the public; working with the public to solve problems; and when warranted, taking legal action.

The Environmental Health Department coordinates activities with federal, state, regional, county, and city agencies when planning and implementing environmental health programs. Such programs involve control of toxic materials, sewage and solid waste, protection of food and water supply, public bathing areas, nuisance complaints and housing conditions.
