How We Regulate Sources of Air Pollution
Industrial and commercial businesses are often subject to air pollution control regulations because they emit air pollutants.
Examples of businesses that are regulated by the District include gasoline stations, dry cleaners, concrete batch plants, autobody shops, mineral and rock processing facilities, industrial boilers, internal combustion engines and wood products industries.
How does the Air District regulate businesses?
- Placing conditions on business operations restricting the pollutions emitted
- Requiring installation of air pollution control equipment to meet current permitted standards
- Monitoring and inspections for compliance
- Requiring annual written reports of business activities
- Inspecting repair of reported breakdowns or malfunctions
- Investigating, tracking and reporting of complaints received
