The Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division (MCAH) is one of three divisions with the Center for Family Health under the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). MCAH supports the vision of the Center for Family Health by implementing strategies to improve health, support the development of children and adolescents, and foster well-being and equity across the reproductive life course.

Maternal Health

Strives to ensure every woman in CA can experience a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Ensures ongoing education, self-sufficiency, healthy life choices, mental and physical wellness during and after pregnancy.



Child & Infant Health

 Strives to improve the cognitive, physical and emotional development of all children. Regular developmental surveillance and screening will identify those children needing early intervention services. Provision of services as early as possible will improve their outcomes.



Adolescent Health

Strives to support Adolescent programs and services which are the building blocks to support mental health, healthy relationships, healthy sexual behaviors and healthy families.   

 

Children with Special Needs

Strives to support infants, children and youth from birth to age 21 who have one or more chronic physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional conditions, and require special health support services.
