How to get tested for COVID-19
Free at-home test kits available at:
- Amador County Public Health, 10877 Conductor Blvd., Suite 400, Sutter Creek
- Amador County Administration Building, Human Resources (2nd floor), 810 Court Street, Jackson
- Amador County Library Branches: Click here for locations
- Other local partner agencies may also have a supply of free test kits available.
COVID-19 Antigen Test Kit Resources
- Many insurance companies (such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Kaiser Permanente, Medi-Cal, Medicare Supplements, Sutter Health, etc.) offer free at-home test kits and/or reimbursement for purchased, over the counter, at-home test kits. Consult your specific plan administrator for additional details and available options.
- Local sources for test kits are also available. Bring your Medi-Cal or insurance card and inquire at the Pharmacy counter to learn more about available options:

Before you throw out “expired" tests
- Most at-home tests can be safely used past the date on the box. Check the test kit to see if the expiration dates have been extended on the FDA's At-Home COVID-19 Test page.
- Replace your tests with fresh ones as the extended expiration dates approach. If you have to, you can use expired tests until you can get new ones, as long as the control line is working. See your test instructions for details about the control line.

If you test positive for COVID, even at-home, seek medical advice as soon as possible so you can start treatment to avoid getting very sick. Talk to your doctor, call the California COVID Hotline at 1-833-422-4255, or visit the CDPH treatment website to find free treatment.
If you were exposed and have symptoms and tested negative, you should continue to take precautions and re-test in 1-2 days.
In addition to the sites listed above, you may also speak with your own medical provider, employer, or school site to inquire about testing availability.
