Amador County Animal Control charges fees for animals that are impounded. These fees must be paid in full prior to reclaiming an animal. The owner of the animal must show proof of ownership and have identification. The fees charged are set by the Amador County Board of Supervisors and are listed below.

* The reduced adoption fee applies: 1) to any animal that has been adoptable for 15 days or longer; 2) at special events at the shelter up to six times each year; 3) when the Animal Control Director determines it necessary to reduce shelter population when there are more than 20 dogs or 40 cats in the shelter
** The Senior for Seniors adoption program will provide a one-time free adoption of a dog or cat that is five years or older to a senior citizen (65 years or older)
*** The nonspayed/unneutered fine may be refunded if the animal is spayed/neutered within 30 days of redemption
**** The microchipping fee will adjust with the actual cost of the microchip plus the cost of staff time
