The animals would love it - and you just might, too!
Thinking about volunteering at the Amador County Animal Control & Adoption Center? We have a variety of volunteer activities:
Dog Walking – The shelter always needs dog walkers. If you are able-bodied and have time in your schedule, please consider it. We walk --rain or shine, hot weather or cold. Our dogs are walked every day, twice a day on regularly-scheduled shifts.
Take a Dog to Training – A local dog trainer, Blue Collar K9, graciously allows us to bring two shelter dogs twice a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) to its drop-in training sessions in downtown Jackson. Our Volunteers transport a dog to training, participate in the 1-hour group training, and bring the dog back to the shelter.
Take a Dog on a Hike – Weather permitting, a group of volunteers take shelter dogs on a hike in the county once a week.
Adoption Events - We have regularly-scheduled adoption events where we showcase our dogs at local stores (Petco and Tractor Supply), and we also take shelter dogs to various county events throughout the year.
