Air Quality Education Resources

The Air District is always looking for ways to get kids and teachers interested in learning and teaching about air pollution sources, health effects and ways to reduce air pollution.

Here are some web pages that offer fun activities and information for kids and teachers.

The Air District staff is available on request to come into the classroom and talk about air pollution. Just give us a call!


The Know Zone
The California Air Resources Board provides a web site for teachers, students and kids. There's a tour of an air monitoring lab, curriculum, general information, and a way to ask questions to the Professor.

Smog City
This web page provides an interactive city where kids can experiment with different weather conditions and pollution source activity to see how much smog would result.

Visit Planet Polluto
Interactive games on air pollution on Earth and Planet Polluto!

AQI Kids  (En Español)
The EPA's web page teaches kids about the AQI (Air Quality Index) and includes games and activities.

CREEC  
The CA Regional Environmental Education Community serving Amador, Calaveras and San Joaquin Counties. It puts the teacher in touch with environmental resources. 

South Coast AQMD Kid's Activity Book  
The South Coast Air District developed a kid's page with air quality information and experiments.
