  • Affirm that the original Task Force Report goals remain appropriate for future fire protection planning.
  • Seek a ¼ cent sales tax increase to support fire protection.
  • Design future fire protection improvements to be flexible enough to allow for local partnership options that may vary by region. These local partnerships may allow expanded services to be offered more quickly.
  • If future fire protection system improvements hire local firefighters, seek to promote longevity and implement programs that are stable and secure and not put out to bid each year.
  • Design systems so that consolidation remains a future option.
  • Seek to maintain and strengthen the volunteer system.
  • Encourage local advancement to paid staff positions.
  • Seek to preserve local Chief authority.
  • Allow AFPA to serve as the recommending agency for any future revenue growth allocated to fire.
